I left the skin on half and off half. It is definitely more "chewy" with the skin on...but it wasn't bitter or anything. I think I prefer it off. You are AWESOME, Ro, for sharing these recipes...

I guess I should have mentioned that these recipes are not for BFL. They are healthy though, but you need to use your own knowledge about BFL to work them in. For example, I think butternut squash is a carb, as is barley. There is no protein in that recipe. I am going to make some tonight and cook a couple of chicken breasts to go with it.

I am glad everyone liked these. I get a lot of my recipes/ideas from Abs Diet for Women. The foods in that diet (like many) are the same as BFL, but instead of pairing them up carbs and proteins they call them powerfoods and you try to have as many as possible in your meals. Since the foods are the same, the recipes work for BFL, but they are not balanced for carbs and protein.

...and as long as you know how to do that, and then do it, you are still doing BFL. I think learning how to pair a meal is one key to still staying strict to the diet, but enjoying what you eat... no reason not to.

Throw it in a crock pot and cook. I add some chili powder to mine because I like my chili to taste more like chili than what the recipe does.

I got the recipe from the Abs Diet book. Prevention puts out a supplement every now and then and there are recipes in the back. The foods for that diet are much the same as for BFL. They call them power foods on that diet.
i really want to try this chili out. Can i use it during the week for my meals? Or should i reserve it for my cheat day?

If you pair it with a baked potato, (or other carb) looks fine to me. I would probably serve it over the baked potato.

25 year old here still learning how to cook. Put all the ingredients minus the black beans into the crock pot. also to even up the carbs I added potatoes to the mix chopped up. Using my rice cooker to do the job. How many hours should I let it cook for?

Hi there, did you brown the turkey first?
In a crockpot, I would cook it 4 to 8 hours....depending on what I had going that day. I've never use a rice cooker, so I', m not sure about that.

actually use i did... chopped it up nice and small browned it and threw her in. It was ready in less than an hour. Came out very good and i'm surprised that i could get such flavor from such relatively healthy ingredients the cumin really brought out the flavor too.
