Myoplex/Protein on Cardio Days,

Do you switch up the Myo that you take on Cardio Days. Such as Switch to Myoplex - lite, or just even protein with some small carbs? Or do you maintain using the same exact eating plan that you would on lifting days?

I do everything the same with one exception:

Sometimes I eat before and after a workout on a weight day, whereas I only eat after a workout on a cardio day. I don't do this all the time, and the rest of the time I just leave everything the same.

It's probably best to keep the diet the same on both days. This interval training is a lot like weight lifting in its boost to your metabolism. It will help build muscle and burn fat, and that requires fuel. So eat up!

I eat the same on both days... keeps the diet more simple and easy to keep as a habit. And I agree with Chris; if done properly, there is a large anaerobic component to the cardio, so muscle-repairing nutrition is important just like it is on the weight-lifting days.

Eating before cardio makes me want to hurl, so I wait until after my cardio is done. I've been following BFL's cardio routine to the letter, and I have to say, after I upped my intensity levels on the treadmill this week, I'm 2/2 for crazy adrenaline body buzzes this week. Something I've never experienced before in my entire life.

RUNNING SUCKS BUT I LOVE IT!

I'm with you ctown - i can't do cardio if I have anything to eat within a couple of hours - other than maybe a "gel" pack (used by long distance runners and such).

I hate running, absolutely hate it. But it's effective so I power through it. And I'm with you guys, I'll hurl if I eat, or use a shake, before intense cardio.

You can certainly go with a diet lower in carbs on cardio days. That said, one of the meals I would certainly still consume adequate carbs is the meal after your high intensity cardio workout. Muscle tissue is primed to suck up nutrients at this time, so you don't have to worry about the carbs spilling over to fat gain or affecting fat loss.

Good luck,

I eat a myoplex bar at 5:30am and then workout at about 8:30. It works out well because the bar is already digested so I don't get cramps, and I don't have to worry about getting "the shakes" during my workout from being so hungry

LOL! I love running ... used to run 2 miles a day, no matter what. But it was a pretty steady pace. I never did interval training. Now that we've started this program ... I ADORE the interval training on cardio days.

Saturday was a bit tough after lower body on Thursday, so I was a good 10 minutes in before I really warmed up... but on the third rep I hit that 10 so good and it felt so great, I hit another 10 for the last 2 minute period.

I didn't want to stop when we hit 20 minutes... so we cheated and did another interval. I LOVE those sprints!!!!!! A definite high.

To keep in the thread, we don't change our diet on cardio days versus weight days. After reading above though, I will make sure we get sufficient carbs in our after workout meal. I think we have been, as our post-workout meal is always supper, since we have to do our workouts in the late afternoon.
