Running cardio

Hi.
I am in my third week of my first challenge and i am enjoying it. I have a question though. When i do my cardio i like to run on a running machine, simply because i can set the runner to a predetermined speed for each of my intensity levels making it more consistent from one session to the next, but is running going to hold my leg development back or not? would i be better off cycling?

Regards

Running is a perfectly viable cardio method and I'm pretty sure it wont trouble your lower body workouts.

agreed. Running does work the lower body, but I don't think it does so to any negative degree. I enjoy running for my cardio.

Chris,
Speaking of Running, Is there any harm in upping the amount of running I do and not have a negative impact on the program? I have a significant amount of belly fat to lose, and although I am already seeing many improvements, I would like to lose that fat quickly as a woman.... So is there any harm in doing more running on more days of the week rather than the 20 minute Aerobic Solution?

Thanks,
Cheffy

It depends on how much you've been running in the past. You don't want to develop a training injury.

Short answer, it's fine to do extra cardio. Just make sure it's low to moderate intensity.

I recommend running for your HIIT days and biking, elliptical, swimming, or something else low impact for those other days (even just walking fast). Or doing the opposite. Point is, don't overdo it on the running.

Half Marathoner Here...

I have been through the gamit of running related injuries, that ultimately is what led me here, because one of the trainers at the gym suggested that I really try to build more lean muscle, because it will automatically transcend into better and less injury prone running.... I am talking relatively easy pace, 9-10mm with a few strides thrown in for my High points. I did that today for my 20 minute A.S. plus a 10 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down at a 14mm pace

Thanks for the reply!
