Anyone starting a new challenge?
Hey all... I'm inspired to start a new challenge. I've lost track of my progress in C2 (with vacations, time off, injuries, holidays, excuses, etc.) and I don't remember when it's supposed to end and the next is supposed to begin. Anyway, I'm planning to start a new challenge on Monday 1/7/2008 and I thought it might be fun to get a bunch of other people to start at the same time. 12 weeks from now we can be celebrating together. We could even workup some kind of contest, I'm open to suggestions.
So who's in? |

Yeah I can bike and eliptical. My leg hasn't bothered me in 2 weeks so it's time to sneak in very small amounts of running. Now starts the official reconditioning. My goal is to be running at the end of 12 weeks.. might even make that official, but it depends on how I heal rather than where I want to be...

I'm up for it, I was planning on starting 12/31/07 but the gym was closed, and lack of sleep prevented it. So right now just getting used to the program.
I'll start on 1/7/08. |

I had some ideas for a "contest." They are only ideas so expand, nix, etc.
What if we did something like everyone that wants to compete--you can still Challenge, of course, without competing--send "a keeper" (I nominate Chris) like $10 or $15. Then we create a pot and get prizes. I also had some ideas on possible "competition categories" * Most Blogs during Challenge * Most improvement in weights * Not missing a workout prize "Perfect Attendance" * Most drop in body fat Anyone like the bud of this idea? Input? ![]() |

Yeah I like it. I was thinking about weight loss... my goal is actually to gain some weight. I've been skinny my whole life and for a while (maybe 3-5 years) I've been happy with a little fat around my trunk as it was the first significant weight I ever really gained (strange, I know). Now I'm after muscle gains and body fat reduction. Last time I checked body fat I was around 12%. My point is that I would suck at a body fat or weight loss contest.
Maybe we can choose which contests to enter. Since I wouldn't be a good candidate for drop in body fat or weight, but maybe some others would like to compete for that. Another idea would be to gather a pot and then have individiual prizes (like you've suggested). And some way to tally a grand champion. I was also thinking we should start some heats. On my buddy's running site, they have distance contests periodically, calories burned, etc. An example might be most miles run this week or first one to burn 10,000 calories. We could have heats here for people to enter and it wouldn't necessarily have to do with our challenge, it could just be a BFL forum weekly contest. Some suggestions would be percent increase in weight lifted this week, calories burned doing cardio, or most grueling new set design (some whacky new way to do curls that works your whole body). Also on that note, we could have the various challengers decide what we will do each week. Week 1 could be Lil, Week 2 me, etc. This way you have to experience what I put myself through, me you, and everyone else too. It might give us all a really good idea the level of effort we put in. |

I like these ideas. I was feeling really bad because I am starting C2 over. I am calling it 2.5 because I like the way it sounds. I know I am at week 10 of the second challenge but it just seems right to start over. These ideas are really cool. I like the idea of heats. I am going to start on Sunday though because I want Mondays to be cardio, and I want my free day to be my last day of the week. I know I can switch things around, but it is just easier for me this way. One day shouldn't make much difference I don't think.
I like the idea of most improved. That way it is an even playing field. Maybe go by a percentage of weight, not actual pounds? As a side note, everyone should weigh, measure, check fat%, etc. before starting the challenge. |

Count me in!
Hello all,
This is my first post but the timing is perfect. I just started my challenge today (1/7/08). It was a bit clumsey but successful none the less. In my BFL journal, today's universal law of recipricatioon task was to get involved in a forum and encourage others. So here I am, I know we can all do this together without question. I know that it is going to be a long journey, but I am looking forward to it. Plus it is always nice to have company on a long journey.

Hi there! Welcome to the board. I see you are from TC. I've been there lots of times.
To you, and everyone else.. I'll give another day or so for people to join our challenge and then we'll make it official. I'm taking my before pics and measurements tonight and will post it to my blog, along with my meals and workout. Let's go team! |

This is day 3 for me. Before I started I did all my measurements and I have been trying to keep really good track of everything I am doing. So much for that taking it easy plan!

I am a researcher (career wise) this IMO is the best way to start anything new. You'll want to keep track of every detail, especially in the beginning, so you can know what has changed. In a few days/weeks/etc. you can loosen the reigns a bit. I'm proud of your efforts Ro, your dedication is excellent.
