Trying again to change diet

OK - Today was the day I am going to try this thing again.

Breakfast was 1 egg and 2 egg whites with a glass of orange juice

3 hours later I had an apple

1 16 oz bottle of water

2 hours later I had a mixed greens salad, grilled chicken, tomatos, mushroom,s lite balsamic vinegar dressing.

now its an hour later even with another bottle of water I am starving and I feel weak.

What gives?

It's still not quite enough food... Tomorrow eat these same meals again but I suggest the following changes:

Breakfast: 1 egg 3 egg whites, 1 piece whole wheat toast, 1 glass (8 oz) OJ
Snack: Apple, string cheese, handful almonds
Lunch: Same exact lunch + 1-2 slices of whole grain bread

then see how you feel at this point in the day. You shouldn't ever really feel too hungry or you're not eating enough. I know I've done in "correctly" if I feel a little hungry at 2 hrs, but could wait 30-45 minutes more w/o too much discomfort. Shoot for eating about every 1.5 to 3 hrs with most of your meals coming every 2 to 2.5 hrs.

When you allow yourself to become too hungry, that's when you'll be more tempted to cheat... don't cheat...

I'm with Chris - sometimes I'm struggling at 2 hours - and go ahead and eat - other times I'm at 3 hours - loading your meals alittle heavier on the early part of the day will keep you right in line as you get a little later. I generally back off of heavy carbs at the end of the day (last meal is a protein shake and totally satisfies my sweet tooth craving).

Good luck - and keep up the great work.

If I was you I would add protien bars(I love zone bars, especially fudge graham) and some protien shakes to the mix. I eat 6 small meals a day and except for right after my morning workout I'm generally not that hungry thru out the day. Now, that being said I weigh 425 lbs, so I try to keep my calorie count pretty high between 2500 and 3000 calories. I'm gaining strength every week, I never "crash" anymore and I'm averaging 3-4 lbs of fat loss every week. So I think it's working pretty well for me. Bottom line, make sure u eat enough or your workouts will suffer. That's my 2 cents.

Well there are no workouts to say so I dont think I need protein bars - yet. When and if I can start lifting then I agree then I should start looking at some shakes/bars.

Watch out for even just a little ceasar salad dressing... it's LOADED! with calories! (So it ranch..) Better yet, steer yourself clear of any cream-like dressings and develop a taste for oil and vinegar... This way you'll get a dose of healthy fat and not undo all efforts...

Are you feeling satisfied from these meals? You could probably eat a little more still. But your choices look pretty good. You're getting it!

Today's breakfast sounds more like what I'd like to see you eating.

I'm with Chris - I'm almost eating salads dry now - to avoid the sugar, fat, etc. typically associated with the dressing.

regarding the lasagna, good job with 1 piece - next time, do what you can to find another filler - those are killers.
