cottage cheese during the day

is is ok to eat cottage cheese during the day for a snack or for your dinner or tea at times like 10am, 12am, 1pm , 4 pm etc....

i know cottage cheese is perfect before bed becasue it contains casein protein which is slow releasing (releases for up to 7 hours) but is casien ok during the day aswell as before bed ?

i leave 3 hours between meals so if i havent eaten protein for 3 hours isnt it best to then consume a fast releasing protein like whey, chicken or fish etc....

because cottage cheese is slow releasing will this have a negative effect on my muscle gains if i have it during the day instead of normal protein or is it fine to have it during the day ?

I'm not really a nutrition expert, Chris would know better for certain, but I think cottage cheese is pretty miraculous stuff. Well at least I've aways assumed it is in an 'if in doubt eat cottage cheese (if you can't get hold of anything else healthy)' sort of way.

The thing with casein (the protein in cottage cheese) is it does release slowly. But not to any negative degree. The only time to avoid it would be before a workout. But even then it's not a case of "avoiding it" more that whey is better before a workout.
There is even some recent reports that casein makes you hungrier for your next meal. Even though the protein digests slowly, you will feel hungry faster eating this than with whey.

So short answer... eat up, especially if you like it (I personally hate the stuff).
