Not hungry on Off Day

I've always eaten very little, so to me this program seems like a lot of over-eating. On my off day I am not really eager to gorge on pizza or anything. I'm more tempted to not really eat much at all.

Is that an OK way to spend one's off-day?

The BFL book says (paraphrasing and interpreting) eating whatever you want on your day off, which for most people means over doing it based on what we eat on the other days.... tells the body "Hey, don't worry! There's more food coming, this person won't starve us so all is well fat burners! Hey Metabolism! Everything is good buddy! Keep pumping away!"

So not too sure what NOT eating will do to your metabolism or how your body will take it.

Remember, the book also says we're supposed to be grazers. Not polar bears. And grazers eat all day, every day.

You dont have to gorge on junk food, but do eat things that you wouldnt normally eat in the week, to shock your metabolism a bit and make it realise that there is not a famine coming your way, and that its ok to use bodyfat for fuel and not to store it!

So definitely eat up, dont skip the food on this day!

It seems that a day of over-consumption does more benefit to your metabolism than a day of under-consumption. Of course this is the 1 day per week we're talking about, obviously not a daily ritual. So that being said, carbs, carbs, carbs. Lots of things to fill your glycogen stores and boost your calories.

It's natural not to feel hungry on free day. You're not burning calories from that day's workout, so your metabolism is slower. Make sure you're eating as soon as you wake in the morning and eat a big breakfast. This will get your metabolism boosted. Now go eat!

I eat my eggs, cheese and toast in the morning. With a pancake sometimes, or fresh bisquits (rolls for you English peeps).

Lunch might be a sandwich. Or some soup.

Supper is anything between fried chicken, New York Strips, Pizza or even just a big plate of spaghetti with garlic bread.

Snacks will be cheese and crackers and definitely a few cocktails.

WAYYYYY more than I ate before we started 6 weeks ago though, I'll tell you that. I tried to count the calories a couple times on our last free days, and I'm still having a hard time overloading.

I did have some oreo cookies and milk last week.

I've been making my free days "Chocolate chip cookie days".

That's done wonders for getting me to eat.

I'm a big fan of bagels and/or Pad Thai on my Free Days! Haagen Daaz Coney Island Waffle Cone is also a staple.

I think it's important to still eat some right stuff on your day off, I mean pig out but include some good nutriants too so your body gets something out of it. Like eating jelly donuts or whatever is cool, but if I eat nothing but jelly donuts all day then my body will get virtually nothing out of it.

I know exactly how you feel!! In fact, when started BFL last year, I posted this same message- people thought I was crazy, or my portions were bigger than they should be.

i think it's the protein- I tend to eat sugarry foods all day long, and the whey protein shakes seemed to be upsetting my stomach. But needless to stay, I didn't look forward to the next meal. I also found I felt bloated- try eating more fiber

As to your question, I made Sunday my free fro all. I didn't follow BFL, didn't even think about food. I usually get up late, like at 11:00. So I don't eat breakfast, it's more like lunch. I had a latte (with SUGAR!!!), then ate whatever I wanted throughout the day. Which really wasn't as much as I had planned. Like you mentioned, you're just NOT hungry- but the foods I did eat were "BAD". I ate a couple cookies, some chocolate... and that was about it, I was done. I was disappointed in myself, but I didn't want to eat for the sake of eating. It helped me throughout the week too. I didn't feel like I was on a diet per say. Cause I had that one cheat day, so it was really- 4 more days and I can eat that. It DOES help.

So, even if you don't eat 6 times, make sure that you eat WHAT YOU WANT... it's good for both your metabolism (extra fat, etc) and your mental health. I'm starting my first REAL bfl challenge today (I made sure to start after Christmas/New Years, so as not to be tempted) and I already feel for you. My tummies a bit queasy from eating eggs for breakfast
