Diet Soda

Can we have diet soda on the BFL? I'm so tired of drinking water!

Yes, you can drink it. You are supposed to add an extra cup of water for each cup of soda though, so it may not help you in the end.

You could try adding some herbs (mint, hibiscus, etc.) to spice thinks up.

Another tip? Fresh cucumber slices in your water! I am SUCH a fan. I feel sooo spoiled. I am not sure if it's just the smell or if it REALLY makes the water taste different. I sit in 3 foot snow drifts and sip my cukie-water and feel like I am on a summer swing with bare feet.

For what it's worth, I like something different once in awhile, too. For me it's a *portion* of a crystal lite portable pack once a day. I limit myself to once a day only cuz more than that sends me on a sugar-craving-bingie-thingie (that's a technical term).

I have never tried cukes in my water. Do you peel it, or skin and all? I was worried about my soda (we call it pop here) when I first started. I have not had one in I don't know how long. Last time I tried to drink a can, I got about 3 sips down and that was enough. I think if you try to limit yourself to how much you drink, you will be able to give it up before you know it. They downside, I really don't like water. It does get better though, really it does.

Ro: sorry on my delayed response. I don't skin my cukes as I need all the fiber I can get. Some folks don't like the bitter taste, however, so if that's you, skin it. For me, just slicing the little guy brings out the flavor...I can't tell if it's the smell or the taste that I like so much but it's pleasing for my sniffer-holes.

Thanks lil. I ended up peeling mine and then slicing them up. I only use about a slice or two a day. It does taste good!

Do you think it's just the smell or REALLY is the cucumber adding flavor to the water? I can't tell, for sure?!?

I think it is that it is different. At first it reminded me when cut up cukes get old and watery and that was sort of gross. I pushed that thought out of my mind and ended up liking it. I really just think it is because it is more than water. I am not a big fan of water but is the only thing I drink now. Gets boring some days. Also, the day I tried it, the temps were in the 60s. It was like spring. 2 days earlier it was 12 degrees out.
