Frustrated with my trainer! Advice please!
it occurred to me that my feelings were hurt that's why i was so upset. being sensitive isn't one of my major flaws...now that i figured it out, i have a whole new perspective.

Umm . . .
First of all, he works for you. Secondly, kettlebells are some of the most brutal workouts you can do. Third, these are your goals take control of them. Figure out what its gonna take to get that 10lbs. I guess trainers are good. I think you can design your own plan with a little research. I would bring it to him and say- "This is what Im doing. What I need from you is to motivate me when I want to slack of on that last rep. I need you to be the enforcer of my plan, and work together with me to reach my goals." Just my 2 cents, Ret |

lol----I know he works for me. No disrespect to kettlebells intended. But my first conversation with him included the fact that I hate aerobics. Lifting..no problem..ropes...medicine ball...whatever. I like simple and boring. I'll do it as long as it doesn't entail an 8 count or a routine I have to memorize. And I have had arthritis in my hands and feet since age 11 so swaying and swinging are not options...he knows this. And this competition is based on a pretty basic bodybuilding protocol...what makes me so special that that wouldn't work for me? He clearly treats his male clients differently...might be a generational thing. He's about 20 yrs older than me.
And you're right. I totally agree...my goals. That's the whole point. And I've had that exact conversation with him more than once. From the start I said I needed two things from him. Design a lifting routine for me and push me to a higher level. I could do it myself but I am exhausted mentally. I really do like the guy and expect great things from him. I just needed to vent and clear my head more than anything. Enforcer---good word. I told him I needed him to be my drill instructor and he said he didn't like bossing people around. I think he'll take to being called 'the enforcer' much better. Very helpful--thanks. |

OMG---best advice---thanks! It was suggested that I ask him to map out exactly how circuit training is going to add 10# of muscle. Explain it, give me some living role models to look to, and all is well
I love my gymrat friends! |

Sorry I didn't get to read your post - but I'm sorry he made you feel like that. With not knowing the whole story - you feel the way you do because it means something to you - you know yourself the best.
*hugs*
