Sports and Body For Life
Do any of you participate in sports? I started playing racquetball (after a 10 year hiatus) about a year ago. I play in a league at my club. The last league was wrapping up just as I started BFL, but the next league starts this week. Did anyone participate regularly in sports while doing BFL, and if so, did you change your routine at all (for example, did you use your sport to replace a cardio workout) or do you just play sports in addition to doing the BFL program as designed. My plan is to just let racquetball be an additional activity. I'm afraid it might take a lot out of me though because tonight I've got my first racquetball match, PLUS my upper body workout. Then first thing tomorrow, it's my cardio workout. That's 2.5 hours of intense activity in about a 14 hour period. Yikes!

So I ended up playing racquetball last night for 1.5 hours... then did my upper body workout. Then (somehow) dragged myself out of bed and hit the gym for my Thursday AM cardio. Over the last 8 weeks, this morning was definitely the roughest.
As part of my challenge, I told myself I would stop making excuses. This morning I had a great case to make an excuse not to work out, but reminded myself of my goals and found the power to push through it. We have to be careful not to fall back into old patterns. We've made a commitment to ourselves to follow through on this 12-week challenge (and hopefully adopt the program as a way of life). Remind yourself of that daily, and keep the promises that you made to yourself. You'll be happy you did. ...Jason |
