TOO much cardio???!!!

Why should cardio be limited? I am coming from a 2 hour a day workout perspective. I am so afraid (It is almost like I am addicted. I am actually feeling nauteous and going into withdrawl) that if I only do cardio 3x per week I am going to get SO fat! I understand for males that may work, but I am a female and most of my family is overweight so I am VERY concerned. Should more cardio be done than just 3x per week. I read that Jill Augello did cardio 5x per week, and she is gorgeous! PLEASE, let meknow what y'all think. Thank You

There is a definite breakeven point where doing too much cardio is overstressing your body.

My personal preference is to do 20 mins of cardio on my weight lifting days, and 35 minutes on my cardio days.

I try to never exceed 400 cals on my cardio workouts. My HR averages between 130 and 155, depending on how hard I want the workout to be.

To much cardio actually has a negative effect. Our body are adapting machines and if u burn to many calories your body will start taking nutrients from your muscles thus shrinking your overall figure. If you gradually increase your cardio youll see much more results. For example increasing 5 minutes every 2 weeks and so on.

Many people have a difficult time coming off a cardio training schedule and adding weight training...It takes a different mindset...However, compound, progressive weight training burns a lot of cals..particularly the lower body compound lifts..squats,deadlift,leg press at increased working weight over time....probably burns more cals than cardio..It does take some getting used to,and you just have to have faith in it...The reason to limit the cardio is that it tends to cause more loss of muscle while running a calorie deficit...nutrition,plus weight training, limited cardio in that order will generally produce better results...
