Hi All,

I have been reading the forum for the last week and thought I should join and say hi.

I am starting a corporate challenge in a couple of weeks time so will try and contribute here to get advise and offer anything that i find.

A little about myself, I am 5'9'' and weigh about 12 and a half stone. I have been injured for the last 2years now with a ruptured ACL which has caused me to put a fair bit of weight on and i'd like to lose a fair bit of fat and put on some muscle.

I have had my ACL reconstructed just over 3 weeks ago so will be doing rehab for that which will affect my exercising but i like the look of the diet and think if i eat clean it will be enough to help me lose some weight.

My plan is that i can do amy upper body routines, the lower body routines will be what i get given from physio with fairly low weights but will be enough to get my heart rate up and my mucsles particluarly in the operated leg working.

As for the cardio, i will have to start slowly but can still do it in the high intensity model but maybe with not as much resistance on the bike...i cant run for another 8 weeks or so and even that will only be jogging. I will soon be able to go in a pool so will try to do by cardio in the pool which i should be able to do as HIIT.

I have a couple of questions...

With the corporate challenge do you still have to use at least one EAS product?

I am thinking of buying the nutrisport 60-30 MRP to use as one of my snacks and trying to decide between buying CNP Pro FlapJack bars or EAS 100% Whey. Buying the Whey is £15 for the whole 12weeks but i am aware that i will need to eat a peice of fruit with it to get my carbs. My question is, i work in an office so will have to carry everything with me. If i go with the powder i will have to take 2 shakers with me to work along with my lunch and a peice of fruit so i can mix the shakes as needed. What would people reccomend i go with?

I will be training at about 6o'clock so will have my afternoon snack at about 4ish and dinner about half 7/8 o'clock.

Sorry for such a long post.

Sorry for such a long post.

can i give you a word of warning :

*if you do body for life style upper body workouts and then low weight workouts for the lower body then you are gonna look like a seriously messed up individual. you'll have have muscles all over the upper body and then these thin and tone legs.

not only will you look stupid but it might not be good for your health cos your body is gonna be seriously out of proportion

Thanks for the feedback. I dont think it will be too much of a problem as being someone who has played alot of sport, mainly football(soccer) before my injury as well as skiing I have always found my legs to be pretty strong and upper body has tended to be pretty weak.

I will be increasing the lower body weight through out the 12 weeks but will be starting very low as my hamstring was where the harvest was for the graft and also my quad is now pretty weak...

My main goal of the program is to lose weight so that when I become fully fit I can then work on getting my fitness back for football rather than worrying about trying to lose the weight.

I will take your advise on board tho and will make sure I am watching so that i can taylor the program if i do start to look stupid. Although i reckon I will have to lose a fair bit of fat before that will happen.

I disagree partially with Yakubu. If you had very skinny/bony legs and managed to beef up your upper body to a bodybuilder-like level of muscularity without gaining any size in your legs, then yeah, you could end up looking a little out of proportion.

But I'm guessing that your legs will be ready to do some decent lifting long before your body fat gets low enough and your muscles get large enough for proportionality to really be a concern.

To answer your questions (I think) - if the corporate challenge is similar to the BFL challenge (sending in photos, writing essay, etc) then yeah, you'll need at least 1 EAS product. At least that's what it says in the "BFL rules". Now, if you're just doing it for yourself, then use what you like.

As for bringing the items to an office, I'm in a similar boat - just get it all ready and put it in a bag (or whatever) to bring it to work. I have 1 shaker though, so I put one serving in the shaker and the 2nd serving in a smaller plastic container (ziploc baggie may work as well, though I find it's messy to pour it into the shaker)

Thanks for the input everyone...

So Ozzo do you think that using 2 shakes is better than using 1 shake and a snack bar? (it works out probably 15 pound cheaper to do it that way but i'd still have to buy enough fruit each week but i'm sure that would be a couple of pound extra each week so is probably worth spreading it out as i am on quite a tight budget.)

Yeah the corporate challenge is similar in sending away photos and essay etc, i've just not been in work to go to the presentations or pick up my starter pack so not yet sure what the small print rules are.

I've heard that the "consume 1 EAS product" has a bit of a gray area around it. Technically if you consume ONLY 1 Myoplex RTD over the course of your 12 weeks, then you've made the eas criteria. It doesn't say that you need to consume the product for the ENTIRE 12 weeks.

That being said, yes, it's still part of the rules and if you're entering the contest officially, you have to follow their rules.

I think you'll be fine. If you've been playing football for a while, you're going to have decent muscle memory when it comes time to lift again. Do what you need to get back in shape. IF that means slow and steady with the lower body, then so be it.

Good luck in your challenge and welcome to our group.
