Hi Everyone, I am New....
I am making my debut here. I literally just began the program yesterday with my first workout. ( Personal Trainer at my giym assisted to show me how to use proper form). I have read BFL cover to cover, Read Champions Cover to Cover and have the Eating for life book. Backround on Me:
Runner- 1 year now. I just completed a life goal by completing a half marathon. I am prone to running injuries, so What led me here was the suggestion that I begin weight training to gain some more strength. Since I am currently re-habbing my calf injury from my race training, I cannot run for a while, or at least not the miles I was running prior to the race. I am a Chef by trade, and have the typical Chef's pot belly from all the years of rich food and good wine. I have an extremely small frame, and as a woman when you are built like me, you really look like crap in clothes when you are tiny, but have a huge belly. BFL will teach me to eat a little differently, but I feel that with my cooking skills, this ought to be fun! My Goals: ( because seeing them posted publicly will have greater accountability) 1. Eliminate Alcohol during the 12 week phase, maybe forever ![]() 2. Lose 12lbs of Fat and gain 6lbs of muscle 3. lose 2 sizes in my clothing 4. Become Mentally Strong 5. Deflate the tire around my waist Looking forward to getting to know all of you! |

Hi Cheffy! Welcome!
![]() Those are some great goals. I can tell you've put some effort into formulating them. One small critique though.. how do you plan to measure #4? While it's a great idea and something to work for, how will you know when you get there? Can you think of a way to reword it into something that is measurable? It's important to be able to check-off your accomplishments. Good luck in your challenge. I look forward to getting to know you too! ![]()

Thanks for you Welcome! How do I measure Mentally Strong? I guess the easiest way would be to tie that to Goal #1, as I always used my wine as a crutch when things got tough for me, and when I felt physically weak. I by no means feel like I had a drinking problem, but when you reach for it as a tool for relaxation, or " I've Had a Bad Day, therefore I deserve this " attitude, It to me signals a sign of mental weakness. As I become more physically strong, and have no crutches to lean on, my mental strength will come into play for sure! While I realize they are pretty lofty goals, so was running a Marathon after only 1 year. I KNOW I am strong, but I am about to figure out just how much..... Can't wait to post my " Afters"....I am about to become the Best " Me" I ever dreamed of being..... Glad you will be here to share in my journey! ![]() |

Welcome, those definitely are strong goals. I had the same issue with running... got addicted to it, then got shin splints from over-training. I started mixing in cycling with it to lower the impact on my legs and still get that runners high. Now I love cycling and am getting the quads to show for it. Good skill to you (I don't believe in luck)!
