New here, getting ready for the 12 weeks....

Hi everyone, newbie to the forum, not to the program. Have never been successful at is the 2 other times I've tried it, but I've never been motivated like I am now.
Since this is an introduction forum, allow me to introduce myself, lol...
35 year old male, 5'9" 177 lbs, around 20% body fat. About 14 months ago, I was 155lbs, but then quit smoking and at my heaviest was up to 189 about 4 months ago. I've been training mma for the last 3 and a half months 3 nights a week, and it's like cardio hell!! lol. However without really changing my diet too much I've managed to lose around 12lbs...
I'm really looking forward to changing my diet and adding weight training to my routine. I've always been in good shape (at least outwardly appearing) and am looking forward to being in the best shape of my life both the outside and the inside.
If you would've told me what going from 2 packs a day down to nothing would do for my stamina and cardio, I would never have beleived it, it is simply amazing! Can't wait to put the rest of the peices together... I'll be on the forums quite often and look forward to meeting all of you!

Hi markc, nice job with quitting smoking. It sounds like you're set to do pretty well this time around. Is mma mixed martial arts?

Hi Maljonic. I'm on day 2, pretty sore, been a while since I've lifted weights!! Yeah, this time I'm determined to make it. I'm using the same mentality I used to quit smoking which is, "Why give in now? if I do, everything I've done and all the effort I've put into this is all for nothing." I didn't use to have that mindset, or even believe I was capable of it, but I do now.
Yes, MMA is Mixed Martial Arts. Like the UFC. I really enjoy it, though it is really hard. Pretty bruised up and always sore, but my stamina and cardio have really improved. I did it for about 2 years previously, and then quit for about 18 months, but I'm back at it full boat again!!

Good! I find martial arts and BFL work well together. I'm exploring Chen style Tai Chi and BFL at the same time.

I'm also doing Tai Chi, Yang style.

Awesome! Tai Chi buddies then.

Is Yang style difficult? I find Chen to be very challenging...my instuctor appears to take great delight in challenging me (which I deeply appreciate) so he often leaves me "tasting the bitters" as the Chinese masters say. This usually means staying in some position long enough that my legs are on fire and I'm bouncing around from the sudden jolts of positive chi flow coming out of them. I come out of Tai Chi just as sweaty as I do with cardio on some days.
