Finally getting in shape!
I'm finally doing the Body for life challenge. I've had the book for years, but never went to a gym or changed my diet. I'm sick of being overweight and unenergetic and my wedding is coming up and I want to enjoy looking back on it so I'm taking my butt of the couch and doing something! I'm a college student and really cannot afford myoplex, so I'm going to use 100% Whey protien instead, which I can afford, and I finally have a gym at my disposal. I'm holding my breath and starting in five days. Go skinny!

Update
Was going to update after a week, but I guess now is better than never!
I started Jan 21st, had a couple set backs, college life is never good for losing weight, but otherwise going ok. Hardest thing for me: Meals, the cafeteria here is AWESOME. They have the best fries you'll ever find up here, their burgers are huge and juicy and when you're starving after class, are just what you want. It was really hard at first to convince myself not to go for them, my average lunch now is either a large salad with lemon juice, a grilled chicken wrap on ww Tortilla, or a turkey sub on ww. All really good, all less then 400 cal, my favorite is the turkey sub though the salad is good too. I hate the wrap, ww tortilla just tastes nasty. Breakfast... I'm trying really hard not to skip. I've skipped it almost every day ever since I was very young, I just really can't do it. What I have been doing is slipping a yogurt, piece of fruit, or power bar in my pocket. Days I don't, I'll get juice from a vending machine. Dinners are easy. I don't know if I've made a difference yet or not, my body did clean itself out majorly in the first week, no details needed, and I've been feeling a different kind of energy during the day. I haven't fallen asleep in one class yet, not even my 8 o'clock one, and I'm actually kinda looking forward to the workouts now. I completely amped up the weights I use in the gym. I do cardio every day just to keep myself going, and I do 1-200 situps a day. depends on how worn out I am at the end of the day. I realized my back was out, I'm getting that adjusted soon. And I am so SORE! Lol, I know it's good, It's just hard to scratch my back. ![]() Otherwise, all is good! I have not weighed myself yet, I'm going entirely on body fat measurements and normal measurements. I want to lose 15% on bodyfat, and at least 12 inches around my waist. I want to reach this goal before my wedding, Jul 18, 2009, so I'm just going to keep trying until then. No real stop date. Wish me luck! WIND |

Yeah, but when I stopped running everyday I didn't want to lose my stomach muscles so I started doing sit ups everyday and haven't stopped since, I can do 100 without breathing heavily so 200 only barely stresses my stomach muscles. I should actually probably be doing more, but I get lazy near the end of the day.

Try medicine ball situps .... they will burn your abs after about 25 reps.

Does anyone know what I should focus on in upper body workouts to firm up my upper arms and back?

you could do some upright rows they will work the shoulders and upper arms for sure. it will also work the very top of your trapezius muscle which is pretty hard to work. just make sure you dont jerk the bar up and your keeping the bar close to your body at all time, last thing you want is to do something to your rotator cuff. hope this helps! ![]() |

Restarting BFL challenge yesterday. I got thrown completely and totally off track because I was pretty much forced to quit my job and family problems up the wazoo. But I'm back with a vengence! I'm adding yoga to my daily routine and I found a machine that doesn't hurt my feet! Yeah! Also, I had lost six inches around my waist when I quit and I only gained one back in the three weeks I was off. Yep, I'm proud of myself.
