BeaBaby is on the road to a better life
Newbie -

Hi everyone, I'm new to BFL, just started, and I'm a little confused about the weight workout. I know I'm supposed to perform just 2 exercises for each muscle group on upper body day and then again on lower body day, but is any two okay? I was just reading on another post how squats and leg press do the same thing, so should I not combine them? Also, is it a good idea to mix up the two exercises I do, so the muscles don't get used to it?

Hello BeaBaby,
I typically do a compound movement for my primary and an isolation for my secondary (or vice versa) but I see no reason why you couldn't use two compound movements like squat and leg-press. Those are both great fat burners! As long as you feel you're getting a good workout (you should feel a little sore the next day) then you're doing just fine.

Yes, you should mix it up every now and then. If you stop feeling sore it's time to change it up. And by sore I don't mean the painful "I can't move" soreness. That's a bad sore. But you may notice some of that for the first week or so.

Anyways, welcome and best of luck!

Hey Dan!

Thanks for replying. I've got lower body today so I will do squats and leg press for quads and lunges and deadlifts for hams. Are side lunges any good? They seem to be quite good for the inner thighs and I was thinking of incorporating them...

Bea.
