Home gym equipments for lower body workout
I am just looking to buy some good and effective home gym equipments. I was searching information about lower body workout gym equipments and read somewhere that 'the most effective lower body exercises are the ones that can be done anywhere with no equipment', while tons gym equipments are available in the stores (e.g. Bowflex, Dicks Sporting Goods, etc..). Want to know your views and suggestions to make a better understanding.
Thanks in advance. |

If space isn't an issue, the best investment anyone can make in home gym equipment is an olympic bar with large plates and a squat rack / cage like this one: Amazon.com: Powerline Power Rack - Silver (PPR200X): Sports & Outdoors
Along with a standard adjustable bench you can do everything you need and more. While adjustable dumbbells and cables are nice, they aren't necessary. You can do a LOT with just a bar and weights and something to hold it up for you. The other nice thing about a rack is it can be your spotter when working solo. |

Because space was an issue for me, I purchased a Weider weight bench from Kmart on-line, which included a barbell, a tower (for tricep and back exercises), and about 150 pounds in starting weights. I quickly outgrew this, though (particularly in the lower body exercises that I was doing like leg extensions and hamstring curls), and bought some additional weights and some adjustable dumbbells. If I had to do it again, I'd probably buy a weight bench off of Craigslist and just pick up random weights whereever I could find them -- I didn't need to spend $150 on a new weight bench. Because I like to switch up my routine every now and again, I think a barbell, a simple weight bench, and adjustable dummbells will give you plenty of options.

for your quads you can do dumbells squats or if you have a spotter they can lift the barbell onto your shoulder for so you can do barbell squats without a squat rack (but never do barbell squats on your own ) and you can do leg extensions hamstrings - dumbell lunges and stiff leg deadlift with a barbell calves - 1 leg dumbell raise , and angled calf raises |

Home Gym Workouts
Hey DealRocker,
I have a set of Bowflex SelectTech dumbells and I can get what I think is a really good lower body workout with just them a pullup bar and my bench. I do lunges, a full set of 12,10,8,6,12 for each leg followed by 12 dumbell loaded squats. then I do seated calf presses 12,10,8,6,12 for each calf followed by 12 dumbell loaded stepups then I do hanging reverse crunches 12,10,8 then 6 hanging side to side crunches Then 12 bench crunches On my days when I don't lift (Tue Thur) I do 30 minute HIIT routines on a eliptical and I am really happy with my result. Good Luck and stay strong!
