Protein (only) shakes??

Does the protein powder that some of you (and the EFL book) use in recipes have any carbs at all in them? I've seen some used with a carb and just assumed that there must not be any carb in the shake mix they're using.

Is that right?

No carbs. Most all of the "Whey Protein" powders are almost 100% protein. The stuff I have has 1g carb, 25g protein and 0.3g fat. The 1g of carbs is probably not even carbs. From what I understand the way the FDA does testing for carbs is by removing all of the other stuff (fats, proteins, water, etc) and whatever is left over is considered a carb.

Ah...okay. So, they're not talking about myoplex lite then.

Thanks.

Right, people may refer to myoplex as a "protein shake", but they are actually meal replacement shakes, meaning that technically you don't need to eat anything else with the shake since it includes a portion of carbs.
