Myoplex Carb Control vs. AdvantEdge Carb Control?

What's the difference between Myoplex Carb control and AdvantEdge Carb control?

More than likely the Myoplex has more protein but if you do a simple side-by-side comparison at the store, you may be able to see the differences. My guess is Protein amount. In that case, go with Myoplex.

Well, the reason I was asking was because I read a couple of sample diets for weight loss using myoplex carb sense/control. i have not been able to find the myoplex carb control stuff at the store, so I've just been using the advantedge instead. Based on what you're saying though, they sound pretty similar so I should be ok. Thanks!

Why would you use carb control? Would it help you loose more fat? I really need to shift alot of fat, should I use the carb control instead of the myoplex lite ( i use the shakes to replace 2 meals a day) or should I reduce the amount of carbs in my 4 other meals?

I wouldn't bother with the low carb shakes... if you want a shake that's just protein and low or no carb, you might as well save some money by using protein powder.

More importantly, BFL is not a low carb diet... it is balanced healthy carb and lean protein diet, with an exercise program that, IMO, certainly should not be combined with a low carb diet.

In general, I would stick with regular Myoplex (for a male) or Myoplex Lite (for a female)--or something equivalent that is roughly 300 calories (male) or 200-250 calories (female).

It should also be noted: NEVER cut carbs near workout time, especially after your workout. Your body will be crying for energy, if you don't give it some fuel it will both, shut down your metabolism and start digesting your muscles for fuel. Giving your body carbs after your workout does more in the long run to burn fat.

If you're concerned about eat too many carbs, one option is to double your carb portion after the workout and then skip it for your last meal of the day (i.e. protein only for last meal, or reduced carbs at last meal). This way you'll have the same net carbs, but can strategically restrict them. But this advice is really only for those with A LOT of fat to lose. Otherwise EAT to LOSE!

I do use the advantage carb control drinks and pair them with a piece of fruit. Sometimes I find this to be more enjoyable, healthier (and cheaper) than a myoplex original shake. Ultimately I generally drink about 1 advantage carb control and 1 Myoplex original per day, in either powdered or RTD form. Protein powder would be cheaper, but probably tastes in general worse than the Carb Control drink and is certainly less convenient.

Why any carb control bar or shake?

I'm still confused about why Myoplex even has a carb control formula. I thought Myoplex was developed for BFL, which mixes protein and carbs. Can someone elaborate why anyone doing BFL would want to keep carbs low.

Marketing.... a lot of people still think they need to cut carbs to lose weight. While this is relatively true, no carb/low carb is NOT the way to go. See with BFL we are cutting out a lot of carbs from our previous diets (at least this is what's assumed) and replacing it with protein. gram for gram, carbs have more calories than protein. So you'll lose weight if you eat the same "pile of food" as before, simply b/c half of it is less calorie dense.

I think the reason myoplex comes in so many different versions (i.e. lite, low carb, no carb, etc.) is because even though BFL advocates eating carbs, many people still think they need to cut them to lose weight. Those products are available because people will buy them. It's EAS's way of selling myoplex to everyone, regardless of carb philosophy.
