Uneven Strength
I've noticed when I do my workout that my right arm is far stronger then my left. I'd say 10-15 percent stronger. My right arm can continue to do curls, for instance, long past the point my left arm has admitted failure.
This is when I'm at my ten on my left, and I'm at a 7 or 8 on my right so I continue the curls per the BFL method, but I can't help but feel that I'm screwing up a bit. I finish the workout by doing negatives, but still, I feel like I'm not getting anywhere. Suggestions? |

I had the same problem for the first 3-4 weeeks... I used the same weight - and eventually my left side caught up with my right... then it was pretty even.
It was consistent across curls, dumbell shoulder pressses, almost everything. I have no background in this other than my own experience, so IMO - I would keep with the same weight on the strong side, and increase the weights (as appropriate) on the weak side till it catches up. Good luck.

I had the same problem too... my advice is to do the left arm first. Do as much weight as you can handle and really give it your all. Then do the right arm with the same weight. It will be much easier for your right arm, but that's okay. In a short couple of workouts your arms will even out for the most part and it will be equally grueling.
![]() I feel that if you keep building the right side disproportionate to the left that it will lag for considerably longer, ultimately causing problems in other exercises. Get the imbalance worked out asap.

I've tried that and it doesn't work. For some bizare reason my left arm is much larger and stronger than my right arm. Bizare because I am right handed, VERY right handed. I've even tried pre-exhausting my left arm, still nothing. My left arm just will not let my right arm catch up.

I'll admit BT, that happened to me while playing catch up. My left bicep always seemed larger than my right... it's even now though.
On a side note, flexing your muscles (for yourself) really seems to help even them out too.
