Barbell machine?
Hi everyone - my gym doesn't have a set of barbells as free weights - they only have the machine one. Is that okay to do? I know the emphasis is on free weights and not machines but that's my only option besides buying some.

my personal feeling is that any resistance training is perfect, as long as you keep your form and use the machines properly it should not matter.

Thanks Duppy - I had the same instinct. I'm going to start with dumbell squats to begin anyway and then after 4 weeks I'll move on to the smith machine. I saw a really big muscley guy using it today, grunting away, so it must do something good!
